The Friendship Caravan's objective is to educate Americans about the Arab World. The Caravan in Gaithersburg, MD featured art exhibits, handicrafts, dancers, food, and music from around the Arab world. Arabesque was proud to represent the Kingdom of Morocco by exhibiting an assortment of handicrafts, photos, and furniture. Arabesque's staff was also available to answer questions about Morocco, the Arab world, Islam, and other areas of interests.

Naji , an expert in Moroccan architectural design-decoration, describes, with breathtaking slides, calligraphy decoration, floral arabesques, geometric decoration and muquamas (stalactites), an essential element in Moroccan architecture. ::Washington, 10 MAI(MAP) Adil Naji est un jeune homme qui se sent investi d'une mission: celle de prepetuer la tradtion du platre sculpté héritée de ses ancetres, cette mission est devenue pour lui une passion et pas seulement en raison de la beauté majestueuse de cet art architectural: son pére, en effetn n'est autre que le " Maalem" naji, un des plus grand maitres de la sculpture sur platre que fes ait connu. Adil en parle d'ailleurs avec reverence, montrant les fresques murales, les frontons, les coupoles, les plafonds, les lustres, les vitraux et autres rosages que le genie artistique a conçues et que des mains experts ont ciselées.Au fil de l'entretien, il engrene un splendide repertoire de florileges epanouis, de motifs geometriques gracieusement entrelacees et d'arabesques calligraphiques savamment agencees dans un concert mysterieux d'équilibre et d'harmonie qui fait resplendir lieux de cultre, palaisn medersas et riches demeures" c'est un trzsor qui n'a pas de prix" dit Adil Naji de ce patrimoine inestimable de l'architecture mauresque transmis de génération pour le plaisir des yeux, mais aussi une célébration de dieu a l'infini, cette affirmation n'est pas de lui, elle est de son pére qui lui a aussi confie que la perpetuation de ce legs précieux, était tributaire d'une capacité de renouvellement continu de l'enrichissement que procure le contact avec d'autres cultures et de l'adaptation constante à l'évolution du Monde.Adil Naji: La passion au service..(Deux)..Cela, Adil dit en être parfaitement conscient, lui qui est installé depuis le début des années 90 aux Etats Unis, ou il a preparé un diplôme universitaire de business, loin de craindres la modernité, il la conçoit au contraire porteuse, pour cet art ancestral jalousement conséervé de pere en fils, c'est pourquoi peut-être il a tout fait d'installer son projet sur internet, car plein d'idées, autant que d'ambition, il veut que la tradtion de platre sculpté rayonne aux quatre coins du monde, A force d'innovation, ce qui n'était pour luiqu'un rêve de jeuness il y'a dix ans, devient maintenat chaque jour réalité. le chemin pour adil n'a pas été aisé, toutefois , loin s'en faut "des échecs j'en ai essuyé beaucoup", concede t-il. a chaque fois, cependant il est revnu à son pupitre et s'est remis l'ouvrage, pour clarifier sa vision et repenser strategie, avec determination et perseverance, dans un domaine comme celui du plâtre sculpté, une telle vertu est indispensable et elle a un nom, lui a encore rappele son pére: elle s'appelle "patience". -(MAP)-

Arabesque displayed an assortment of handicrafts and textiles for this exposition at the DC Convention Center. Arabesque was pleased to officially present the cultural and information aspects of the Kingdom of Morocco at this event
